10th ANNIVERSARY CHICAGO TOY & GAME FAIR SETS ATTENDANCE RECORDS

The 10th anniversary Chicago Toy & Game Fair continued its tradition as the nation’s largest public play event, attracting over 25,000 people to Navy Pier on the weekend before Thanksgiving. The Fair was the finale of Chicago Toy & Game Week, which featured industry seminars (I-SPI and T&GCon), a highly celebrated inventor awards gala (The TAGIEs with attendees from 18 countries) and a new toy-inspired fashion show, playCHIC.

Upcoming Events at ChiTAG Fair

Deadline for Entering the Young Inventor Challenge is October 31st!

If you are under 18, take the Young Inventor Challenge, held at the Chicago Toy & Game Fair (ChiTAG) at Navy Pier. In 2012 over 130 kids from coast to coast competed in the Challenge. There is an even greater prize package this year, and budding inventors take note, the winner of the 2011 senior division got his game licensed by our presenting company PlaSmart! PlaSmart is a leading toy company and the makers of Perplexus. Our senior category winner has since formed his own company and will be watching his college fund grow.

Inventors

Attend the International Toy & Game Inventor and Industry Conference, T&GCon on November 21-22, Navy Pier.

T&GCon is a forum for advocating, educating and bringing together people in the toy and game industry; with unrivaled opportunities for private / confidential meetings, knowledge sharing, learning about new trends, pooling resources, getting your ideas licensed or on the shelf and generating new business, this is the conference to attend. It includes a ticket to the celebrated TAGIE Awards and the glamorous playCHIC, where toy and game inspired fashions play on the runway.

Review

Happy 3rd Anniversary to The Game Aisle, one of our favorite board game review sites!

Inventor Kim Vandenbroucke founded The Game Aisle to write about her favorite games and since she is an industry insider, shares insights with you about the inner workings of the game industry – cool stuff like who invented which game, how they came up with it, what the original theme was, etc. And, since she invents, she knows what makes a solid game.

Her recent hit games include Scattergories Categories and High-Low Rack-O. You can find them at stores everywhere!

Video

Our favorite TV video this year was the Steve Harvey Show's Henry checking out our Chicago Toy & Game Fair. He spent hours there playing with the exhibitors and attendees.

Each year, Chicago Toy & Game Fair attendees have the chance to vote for their favorite toy and game. This year’s honors were awarded to PlaSmart for Best Toy with Perplexus Epic, and Bananagrams for Best Game with PAIRSinPEARS.
