Alan Hassenfeld is the Chairman of Hassenfeld Family Initiatives, a philanthropic organization whose goals are to globalize safety and human rights within the area of children’s products, empower women in developing countries, and undertake initiatives to improve the economy, education, and business opportunities in Rhode Island.

He is also the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Hasbro, Inc., where he began his career in 1970. He retired as Chairman of Hasbro in 2008 after serving as President and Chief Executive Officer. He is currently a Director of the Cue Ball Group, LLC, a venture capital firm in Boston, and Vice President and Treasures of the Hassenfeld Family Foundation, an independent foundation founded in 1944 in Rhode Island which gives primarily for higher education and Jewish federated giving programs. He serves as co-Chair of the Governing Body of the International Council of Toy Industries CARE Process, Trustee of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps Foundation, Inc. in New Haven, Director of the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy in New York, and Founding Director of the Salesforce.com Foundation in San Francisco.

Alan is a Director of the Jewish Federation of Rhode Island, Operation Smile in Norfolk, VA, and Relief International in Los Angeles, as well as a Member of the Dean’s Council of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and the Advisory Council of Common Cause Rhode Island. He is Chairman of The Jerusalem Foundation, Inc. (USA), Chairman of the World Scholar Athlete Games and World Youth Peace Summit (2011).

He has received Honorary Doctorates from Bryant University, Rhode Island College, Salve Regina University, Johnson and Wales University, Roger Williams University, the Waterford Institute of Technology, FIT – SUNY, and Hartford University. Most recently, he was inducted into the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) Licensing Hall of Fame in March 2010.

Alan holds a B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania.
