Preparing your Talking Points for Media

Lucky Penny Shop is a YouTube toy & game product reviewer with over 1,841,183 subscribers and 1,091,465,336 views. We asked them for their thoughts on what media, bloggers and product reviewers want to know when they visit your booth at the fair.

As we get ready for another great year at ChiTAG, we like to review our notes and literature gathered at last year's fair. Our goal is to collect the best product information to share with our viewers, that may be seeing these toys for the first time! To accomplish this, we have come up with a simple list of talking points that vendors can use as a guide when discussing the key features of their toy products.

OUR TALKING POINTS
  • What is the target age group for the toy or game?

  • What is the set up time before a child can start playing?

  • Is it easy enough for a child to understand on their own, or do they need a parent's help?

  • What are the main features?

  • What about the construction and durability?

  • What is the shelf life (repeat play) for this product?

These questions tell us a lot about whether your product is a good fit for our audience. Different media channels will value some responses more than others, or ask different questions, but this is a good starting point for talking to many members of the media.

GETTING YOUR POINT ACROSS

We have a lot to see and do at the fair, and its important for you to be able to tell us what we need to know briefly. Practice your talking points, or have a sheet ready to hand me in case you're talking to another customer and can't have a long discussion with me. Its good to have that sheet ready even if we're talking; we are guilty of this ourselves for getting side-tracked in play, when we should be gathering important product information!

We look forward to meeting you all soon and PLAYING with these cool toys!
