5 Ws AND 1 H OF INVENTOR PITCH SHEETS WITH TEMPLATE

Who?

Who are Inventor Pitch Sheets for? They are created by inventors for company Inventor Relations representatives.

What?

What is an inventor Pitch Sheet? It is a one page summary of a specific game idea.

Where?

Where are Inventor Pitch Sheets used? They are typically shared during inventor pitch meetings at a trade show or event.

When?

When are Inventor Pitch Sheets used? During an inventor pitch meeting with a company. Inventors give me a Pitch Sheet to look at while they explain the game. If I think the game is of interest, I will ask for more details and we will look at the prototype. If after this I still feel the game is a good fit, I will ask to keep the Pitch Sheet and will contact them after the show if I want them to send in the prototype. But the Pitch Sheet is very helpful to help remind me exactly what the game was.

Why?

Why create a Pitch Sheet? During a trade show, an Inventor Relations representative could see hundreds of new ideas from inventors. As an inventor, you want me to remember your idea. These Inventor Pitch Sheets help me do that. If you don’t have one, I make my own notes, but there are no guarantees that I record everything you want me to remember.

How?

At the end of this paper, page 3, I’ve included a template for an Inventor Pitch Sheet that both inventor Patrick Matthews and I developed.

Pitch Sheets should be no longer than one page in length. They should include:

 Your Name and Contact Information

 Spill Shot: Color if possible, this photo should include all the components of the game

 General Game Information: Game name and tagline, number of players, age range, length of time to play and game category. A picture says a thousand words.

 Brief Description of the Game including components and overview of the game play

 What sets this game apart from all other games, what’s the hook? Inventors often have a binder with a Pitch Sheet for each of their ideas and multiple copies of each to hand out during their many meetings.
