Why and how did you get into the Toy and Game industry?

My dad convinced me to join him in the Toy & Game industry.

What trends do you see in toys or games that excite or worry you?

A growing market for traditional toys and games, but less and less traditional stores to follow up this trend.

What advice can you give to inventors who are presenting new toy or game ideas to you?

Google first, talk to a specialty retailer/buyer about your invention and ask yourself, “what makes my idea or product so unique, why should somebody buy this?”

What was your favorite toy or game as a child?

Lego was probably the most played toy during my childhood and we played traditional Swiss card games with my family too.

What does your typical day look like?

40% solving issues, 20% selling, 20% purchase and development, 20% act proactive and follow up future projects.

What is the worst job you’ve ever had and what did you learn from it?

I had in the late 80's my first presentation for SkipBo at key account level. I didn’t know the game and was unprepared….but the buyer was keen to play the game in the meeting, so the disaster was programmed. Since then, I never sold a game again without knowing the rules and played before.

What inspires you?

Traveling, family and mountains.

What is your favorite gadget, app or piece of software that helps you every day?

The delete button on my key board.

How do you jumpstart your creativity when you find yourself stalled on a project?

Go running or hiking.

Do you have any kiddos?

2 boys and one daughter.

What’s the first thing you usually notice about people?

I look closely to the first impression somebody makes to me.

Summer or Winter?

All 4 seasons, but fall is probably my favorite.

What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home?

A bike trip in New Zealand.

Do you have any special talents?

Solving problems, find solutions and some marketing skills.

What are your hobbies?

Mountain sports.

Next trend, next year, next event or just business as usual.
